Objectives:
  1. To educate participants on the role architecture played in downtown development with the 1927-1928 and post World War II building booms.
  2. To see examples of adaptive reuse to preserve historic buildings by giving them modern uses.
  3. To study the detail of Pueblo Deco architecture that drew inspiration from the Art Deco period while using motifs from Southwestern flora and fauna.
  4. To see examples of buildings that used state and federal historic tax credits for historic preservation and adaptive reuse using Secretary of Interior guidelines.

Just as architecture and AIA Amarillo have evolved, so has the City of Amarillo.  The purpose of this course is to learn about who Development Services is, what they do, and how they do it.

Texas Continuing Education Requirements

 

All registrants must complete at least twelve Continuing Education Program Hours (CEPH) per renewal period. All 12 CEPH must include the study of subjects related to your profession and be pertinent to the health, safety, and welfare of the public.

  • At least one of the twelve hours must be related to sustainable or energy-efficient design
  • At least one of the twelve hours must be related to barrier-free design.
  • At least eight of the twelve hours must be structured activities, (classroom/classroom equivalent)
  • A maximum of four hours may be self-directed.
